IBERIA Airlines pilots will hold two more days of strikes on January 9 and 11, cancelling an additional 266 flights.
The dispute is over the intention to create a new budget airline, Iberia Express, which pilots’ union SEPLA says will mean lower salaries, reduced working conditions and job losses.
“The strike will cause the suspension and delay of many of our flights, with a subsequent repercussion on the whole of our network,” said an Iberia spokesman.
The airline is however allowing customers to be reimbursed, change their flights or transfer to other airlines in order to reduce disruption.
Strikes on December 18 and 29 meant 218 flights were cancelled, affecting 22,000 passengers.
