Spain sets new record for organ transplants

SPAIN is at the top of the transplant league after performing 94 life-saving transplants in just three days.

Health boss Rafael Matesanz said the new record proved the ‘solidity of the National Health System’.

Most of the operations were kidney replacements, with 23 of liver, 12 of lungs, six of heart and one of intestines.

Two of the donors had died in traffic accidents and two of the recipients would have died within 48 hours if they had not received their new organ.
