Olympic hopeful killed in Spain

A BRITISH teenager touted as a potential Olympic star has been killed in a moped crash in Spain.

Alex Charlesworth, 16, died at the scene of the accident in Olot, Catalonia, where he had lived with his parents since emigrating in 2006.

The talented youngster, from Welshpool, was tipped for glory after breaking a 17-year-old record at the Spanish National Swimming Championships for the 50-metre freestyle competition in July.
