Spain’s Fernando Alonso wins British Formula 1 Grand Prix

FERRARI driver Fernando Alonso won his first race of the season at the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone today.

Alonso finished 16 seconds ahead of Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel. However, Vettel increased his overall lead in the drivers’ championship by finishing second.

After starting in third place on the grid, Alonso took the lead on the 28th lap when he pitted at the same time as Vettel, whose pit crew struggled to attach a wheel.

Alonso is now third in the drivers’ championship, behind Vettel and Webber.
