Shakespeare’s Spanish stamp of approval

JEREZ, the home of sherry, is launching an official postage stamp in honour of William Shakespeare.

The face of the famous English bard is set to appear on a stamp next autumn coinciding with the city’s VI Homenaje dedicated to the playwright who made reference to sherry no less than 48 times through eight of his plays.

The Cine-Club Popular and Club Filatélico are behind the latest scheme with both working together to create the final design.

The stamp will be sold alongside a postcard at the event in the Hontoria Gonzalez Memorial Park.
