WANTED: Five-star hotel search for Alwyn Funke

By James Bryce

A FIVE star hotel has made a fresh appeal to catch a client, who walked out having failed to pay his 1,500 euro bill.

Bosses at the Gran Hotel Guadalpin Banus are offering a one night stay and dinner for two for any information leading to the whereabouts of British gardener Alwyn Funke.

They are particularly angry after he phoned following a story in the Olive Press last issue, apologising for the matter and promising he was going to pay the bill.

A spokesman for the hotel insisted however that he failed to turn up as agreed on March 29 claiming he was in the UK having an operation.

“He was actually in Marbella,” claimed the spokesman, backing this up by evidence from a friend, who snapped him that day having lunch in a well-known Marbella restaurant.

  1. Havn’t been conned by Funke but surely have been robbed by another pair of (British) thieves that used to live in Ronda but now fled to Scotland. They owe us about 3000 EUR. Any one interested in their names? I can give you all the details!

  2. Funke and his partner Alexe Meddings are probably lurking
around the Surrey area LYING LOW in or around Guildford or Horsham.
In the UK,Funke ran his fathers Nursery Business into the
ground, and ended up owing over 1.6 million Sterling,THEY
ARE SERIAL CON ARTISTS,they will be back in Spain soon
no doubt,BEWARE!Residents of the Costa del Sol.

  3. I hope they collect the $$ owed them – but an interesting “turn of events”. Isn’t this one of the two Gran Hotel Guadalpins built in Marbella & Banus by the AIFOS group? Two years ago AIFOS went into voluntary Administration having 884 Million euros of debt owed to 6234 individuals and businesses as provisional creditors. This does NOT include substantial Deposits owed to Buyers for AIFOS uncompleted homes, or those … never started. Two years ago and still no money paid to Creditors. And as usual, priority for payment will be given to banks, the Tax office & Social Security. Nice if everyone got paid !!
