Spanish consumers to perform ‘blackout’

HOUSEHOLDS are being urged to join a protest against rising electricity costs next week.

Thousands of people are expected to join the blackout protest on February 15.

Consumers are being asked to turn off lights and all other appliances at the same time from 10pm to 11pm.

The idea is to send out a strong message to big electrical companies, such as Iberdrola and Endesa, who have continually raised electricity rates during the recession.

  1. I have my candles ready, a torch, logs for fire, baked potatoes to go in fire and am expecting to be serenaded by husband on guitar instead of watching TV. Looking forward to it. Our last bill was three times the amount it was two years ago ! Apparantly we are consuming 3 times more according to our bill but we cant imagine how, nothing has change in our household in that time.
