Ferry across the Med for Motril

by

A CROSS-Mediterranean ferry link between Motril and the North Africa enclave of Melilla has been announced.

Officials from Balearia were in the Costa Tropical town to discuss the plan with port officials.

With the aim of introducing a foot passenger-vehicle service to Melilla, high-speed ferry Federico Garcia Lorca docked at Motril to test the port’s technical specifications.

A spokesman for the Port Authority said: “This will send historic repurcussions through the tourist industry of not only Motril, but the region and the province of Granada.”

The first ferry, Motril’s first marine public transport service, is expected to sail from September.
