HELICOPTERS and a field hospital are on standby next to the tunnel where miners are attempting to rescue Julen Jimenez.

The choppers are ready and waiting to whisk the boy to hospital if necessary, while a team of medical experts are prepped to attend to the boy if there are signs of life.

It comes as miners are now just around 60 centimetres away from where they believe the two-year-old Malaga toddler is trapped.

Parents Jose Rocio and Vicky Maria Garcia and family are receiving psychological treatment at the excavation site.

There are 26 emergency service staff on site as the 12-day ordeal reaches its final stage.
