DOG DNA is giving the game away for inconsiderate dog owners who don’t clear up after their hounds.
Thanks to a new scheme for identifying doggy doo-doos, Valencia Town Hall has reduced poos on the pavement by 80% in the town of Xativa.
All dog owners in the town have to be listed on a municipal register, which helps police identify owners based on their dog’s DNA.
The scheme – which launched just three months ago – has proved so successful the police only have to carry out the unpleasant job once a week.
The illustration appears to show that it is English speaking people who are careless about crap.
It probably is English speakers as they tend to have the dogs on leads so more in a position to clean up. Whereas many locals let their dogs roam free.
When will scheme run to other parts of Spain. I’ll have to see it to believe it. The streets were we live are covered in crap. And even with special places for dogs to do it, the owners let them pee on the pavement right in front of you.
